Helping your school

The Sill learning staff are trained to deliver Arts Award at Discover, Explore, Bronze and Silver levels. The landscapes of Northumberland provide endless inspiration for all art forms, from wildlife photography to landscape paintings to poetry inspired by the spectacular scenery. We can be guided by your requirements, and assist in facilitating visits to the perfect locations for your groups to be inspired to learn more, and create their art works.

Our most recent Arts Award work focussed on the agricultural show held at Glendale, during which children were inspired to create a variety of artwork, such as acrostic poems, model tractors, still life drawings, and sculptures made from natural materials. This was featured on the Arts Award blog – click here to find out all about how children were inspired by the natural world to be creative.

John Muir Award

The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places. It supports people to connect with, enjoy and care for nature, landscape, and the natural environment. Participants work towards completing four challenges – Discover, Explore, Conserve, and Share. As an award provider, The Sill learning team can arrange visits and facilitate meetings with experts, helping to guide participants through the four stages and foster a love of the Northumberland landscape.
